An evening of talks and presentations including the giving of the annual J'Rat Digging Award.

MCR Practice Rescue - Swildons Hole - Sat 6th November
Mendip Cave Rescue will be holding a practice rescue in Swildons Hole involving hauling at the 20ft Pot.
This area of the cave will be very busy and you may have wait to descend or ascend the pot.
The practice is limited to members of the rescue team only.

BCA AGM Ballot
All BCA members whose emails addresses BCA holds should by now have received an email with a 'voting token' enabling them to vote in the ballot for the election of BCA chair and on the various constitutional changes that have been proposed.
Please take the time to vote. Proposals 2 & 3 in particular have significant and long reaching effects.

MCR Training Exercise - Rhino Rift - Saturday 13th November
Rhino Rift will be closed to visitors on Saturday 13th November for a MCR training exercise. Please avoid the cave on this day.

Singing River Mine Access
Following a change in ownership and landscaping work, the entrance to Singing River Mine is now located in a private garden.
Arrangements for future access are under discussion and will be available as soon as possible.
In the meantime all visits should be avoided.

CCC Ltd: Rhino Right Hand Route Rebolted

After a long day’s work last weekend, the Right-Hand Route in Rhino Rift has been rebolted using BCA approved IC resin anchors.
The resin holding the new bolts has now had time to cure and so the route is usable again from this weekend (26th June) …

CCC Ltd: WARNING - Rockfall in G.B. Cave - Update

ROCKFALL IN THE AREA OF THE WATERFALL CLIMB, GB CAVERN
Following the rockfall notified and publicised in early February, a further inspection trip was scheduled for 6 April, following the relaxation of covid restrictions. On 5th April, a report was received of a further fall. The inspection trip comprised Linda Wilson (Conservation Officer), Dave King and Graham Price (CCC Directors). A large area of the side of the passage above the big steps on the left hand side (when travelling into the cave, heading downstream) has come away, resulting in a massive, unstable talus cone of boulders, large rocks, smaller shattered rocks and mud that now completely covers the steps almost to the base of the ledge in the middle of the climb. It is with some relief that as from Monday 29th March that the national “stay at home” rule will end, and the long path to a return to something like normality can begin. Access to caves in Cheddar Gorge
Further to the decision by Longleat to close the show caves and suspend their operations in Cheddar, they have notified CSCC that with immediate effect caver access to all caves on Longleat property which includes the whole south side of the Gorge, is no longer available. This includes all caves and digs, and affects sites such as Reservoir Hole, Spider Hole, Goughs Cave, Long Hole, Great Oones etc …
